We checked out early and of course the taxi was ready and waiting (see last posting). It was 6.00am when we left, so dark but what a ride. There was hardly any traffic so it it was abondonment of what ever road rules do exist in India. It was a 45 min. thrill ride to the airport. The best we saw was two motorbikes being passed by a bus and the bus being passed by a small truck into on coming traffic. We passed them all a few seconds later.
It was a two hour flight to Mumbai. Mumbai has 16.9 million people. We have a 6 hour wait until check in of the next leg (different airline) so we have our backpacks which are now too heavy (presents for Sophie) to lug around Mumbai and we have been advised to stay at the airport because it is at least 1.5 hours each way to central Mumbai (30km). And that isn’t even at peak hour. We leave for Jaipur at 7.10pm (2.40am Melb time); it is another 2 hour flight.
I’m writing the last and this blog post while we wait. Of course there are many other International jetsetters like ourselves to talk with so it isn’t that bad sitting here. There was even some Bollywood star passing through.
So that’s it for this post. Once this has been posted I might see if I can call Jaipur for accomodation for the next couple of days.
Oh yeh, it is a very pleasant 29C here today.
