Kochi

Hello. After I was back from the town posting the last message, Tahlia and I decided to check out and move on to Kochi (70km north). Just before we checked out, Anthony the house host showed us some CDs made using some of the past residents of Castle Homestay!!!! They were very Bollywood, made with local music and promoting the Alleppey surrounds’. I would recommend Castle Homestay to anyone visiting Alappuzah (Alleppey). Not only does Anthony give the best tariff in town, but is there to promote the not only the local area but the entire state. He is only too helpful with advice and help for the Kerala area.

We had a great trip from Alleppey to Kochi. We decided at the last minute, not to catch a bus but use an auto-rickshaw. What a great idea. Kannan, our driver decided to take us off the main road and basically follow the coast line. We had frequent stops along the way at place such as secluded palm lined beaches and fishing villages etc. It is quite an experience doing such a trip in an auto-rickshaw. I also have Kannan’s contact details for any others that would like to experience such an exciting way to see Kerala.
Again we are staying another Homestay in Kochi at Fort Cochin. We spent the afternoon wandering the historic town of Fort Cochin that’s has been luring wanders and traders for over 600 years. It is a blend of medieval Portugal, Holland and an English country village. We had ‘High Tea’ this afternoon.
As seems to be the norm now with our movements we will stay here two nights before out push to Northern India and ultimately Delhi for our trip home.

A quote quote from Tahlia when she was starting to haggle the price of some clothes: '... how much is it? Thats cheap!'
